Job Title: Sales Manager Location: South Central Industry: Construction Equip. (CE) Compensation: Aggressive base salary + 50% Bonus potential Position Details & ResponsibilitiesThe Regional Sales Manager of the Machinery Sales Division is primarily responsible for achievement of Sales Budgets, Sales and Retail for branches within the Region. This includes but not limited to:
Sales Management:
- Lead a team of Territory Sales Reps who are competent and participate in a high percentage of the area’s equipment transactions and maximize performance at all levels.
- Develop and implement a proactive training process for team members to address product knowledge, application usability, new product introductions, and soft skills development.
- Establish individual and team performance goals in terms of revenue and gross profit and high opportunity units.
- Ensure that the region territory Sales Reps have the tools necessary to perform their jobs effectively and professionally.
- Understanding of the regions competition, and their position in the marketplace.
- Coaching of Territory Sales Reps as needed to close a high percentage of transactions.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations.
- Direct lost sale reporting and ensure that information is timely and accurate
- Coordinate regional sales activities with Major Account Management and appropriate Major Account Reps to minimize conflicts in coverage, strategies or offers.
- Promote team selling with other sales and support reps to encourage communication and exchange of customer sales, rental and support opportunities among departments.
Merchandising:
- Develop value added total cost strategies to effectively sell against local competition. Manage pricing issues in the regional marketplace to maximize revenue and profit.
- Review sales orders and commission calculations to ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness
- Provide feedback to upper management and Marketing regarding competitive activity and proactively identify threats and potential actions.
- Ensure the maintenance of an accurate customer database for the region including proper account assignments and ownership population.
- Participate in customer awareness programs and all marketing and promotional activities within the region.
- Maintain an intimate knowledge of the vendor merchandising and focus programs. Communicate this information to the regional sales team effectively and coach them on effective use.
Financial Management:
- Analyze monthly financial statements and inventory reports. Communicate effectively with the regional sales team.
- Practice sound expense control
- Achieve volume, profit and return goals. Keep team members and upper management informed of progress towards achieving regional goals through regular reports, communication and/or team meetings.
- Actively participate in customer collections activities and resolve customer disputes in an equitable and timely manner.
Planning:
- Coordinate regional planning activities with local Rental Division and Major Accounts Representatives to jointly establish Regional targets, budgets and Unit Business Plan for the region. Provide input to corporate for company overall short and long term planning.
- Actively participate in Company Strategic Planning process and lead project teams as requested.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Monitor customer purchase and customer satisfaction survey information, disseminate to team members and upper management on a regular basis.
- Participate in customer complaint management process, gaining first hand knowledge of any grievances as necessary to ensure timely issue resolution.
- Direct long term, value added relationships with customers
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with team members and other internal customers.
- Abide by and promote the company's core values in all actions and ensure the same of those that report to you.

• Thorough knowledge of construction equipment products. Five years of experience in the construction and mining equipment business.

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on training individuals and groups
Candidates MUST have hands on experience and/or qualified training in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Construction and Mining Equipment. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a construction equipment provider. Equivalent mechanical experience is recommended. Candidates are also required to have a clear driving record and verifiable employment references.
